National Clear Your Clutter Day 2016 launches on Saturday 19 March in the UK.

Founded by TV Consumer Crusader and Money-Making Expert Jasmine Birtles it will help people around Britain to de-clutter their homes and make extra cash to spend on a holiday or put towards a bumper Christmas.

Jasmine came up with the idea for the event when she had to empty a huge storeroom full of possessions that were mostly useless to her.  Not only did it take her months to get rid of these items, she realised she had lost thousands of pounds in storing them for a few years!

A natural ‘thrower-outer’, Jasmine was spurred on to de-clutter more of her possessions and realised that people around the UK needed help to do this too so that they could have more space, more freedom and more money!

The run-up to the event will include competitions, videos, a free ebook on de-cluttering, articles in newspapers, magazines and websites and online videos helping people sort the good stuff from the tat in their homes.

People will be urged to get ready to de-clutter their homes and dig out their stash of unused items.  They will be shown how to sell, swap, upcycle or recycle their belongings for a profit.

Suggested items for selling, swapping, donating, upcycling or recycling on the day or in the run-up to it;

  • Baby Clothes
  • Jewellery and Accessories
  • Garden Tools
  • CDs and DVDs
  • Children’s Toys
  • Clothes
  • Furniture
  • White Goods
  • Shoes
  • Antiques
  • Computers and Game Consoles
  • Household Electrical Items
  • Bric a Brac
  • Books
  • Musical Instruments

The whole campaign will be supported by Jasmine’s consumer website and there will be several articles, competitions and videos helping the nation de-clutter in the website’s free weekly newsletter

The first tranche of Clear Your Clutter Day activities happened after Christmas 2015 with a series of competitions promoted through the MoneyMagpie newsletter.
