Green Office Week - Would you say your office is eco-friendly? The problem is that people are wasteful so easily; when the smallest actions can make a huge impact!
So how can you be greener in work? Take steps to reduce energy consumption by ensuring that lights and electrical equipment are turned off when they are not in use. Reduce your company's environmental impact by introducing a 'Bike to Work' scheme, or check out alterative ways of getting to work. Encourage the three R's - reduce - reuse - recycle. You can start by arranging for recycle bins to be brought in and reuse old envelopes and packaging. When buying office products make sure that you make the change to eco-friendly items.
Why not start doing all this during May and then organise an event or set up a stall encouraging and giving advice on how to be environmentally friendly. And what's more, spread the word and make small changes every week of the year!
There are free downloads online including the Green Offices for Dummies Guide and a presentation from an expert.
To do all this and more, visit the Green Office Week website.
You should also celebrate the people in your office who know how to be greener and are putting their skills to good use! Who knows - maybe it will help encourage that one third that weren't so enthusiastic!
