Dress Spotty Day

Dress Spotty Day - Lynn's Bowel Cancer Campaign urges you to dress spotty any day in November to raise awareness of bowel cancer.

It is about spotting the symptoms of bowel cancer. However, it is also about spotting if there is a history of the disease in your family or spotting if there is a local screening programme in your area.

The bowel is, after all, a vital part of our make up. The bowel lining is where nutrients are absorbed into the rest of our bodies. The large part of the bowel is the destination of all our leftovers! Its all snugly stored inside until your body is ready to pass the waste out altogether. However, if you're feeling bloated or in pain then that's a sign that the bowel isn't running as smoothly as it should be.

You can get involved this November by holding a designated 'Spotty' day. Host a spotty coffee morning, a spotty party or encourage staff in your workplace to wear something spotty.

I have so many spotty dresses that I might host more than one event during the month! Why don't you dig out those old prom dresses and evening dresses and have a spotty dinner party? Or stick with casual dresses and skirts and have a daytime event. Inject a bit of humour and ask the men in your life to adorn women's dresses and spread the word about Dress Spotty Day.

Don't forget the reason behind Dress Spotty Day. Spread the word about bowel cancer and encourage people to spot the symptoms so that the cancer is caught before it gets any more serious. Familiarise yourself with the symptoms and get to your General Practitioner if there is anything suspicious.

In the meantime, get dressing spotty! I'm wearing a black and white polka dot dress as we speak!
